Building a Better Community Through Local Giving

The Rotary Foundation of Washington DC has served the local DC metro area communities since 1922. This year the Foundation celebrates it 101st year of dedicated support to local and international organizations engaged in a wide range of community development and charitable activities.

Annual Fund Drive for our Local Foundation

Each year, the members of our Club conduct an annual fund drive for our local Foundation.  The goal is to have every club member make a contribution. We encourage every club member to contribute at least $100. Larger contributions are welcomed and those contributing $500 or more will receive special recognition as members of the President’s Club and attend a special reception in the Spring in their honor. How The Foundation Makes Help Happen

Foundation History

At the 1917 convention, outgoing Rotary president Arch Klumph proposed setting up an endowment “for the purpose of doing good in the world.” That one idea, and an initial contribution of $26.50, set in motion a powerful force that has transformed millions of lives around the globe.

Financial Structure

The Rotary International Foundation is organized as a public charity operated exclusively for charitable purposes and governed by a Board of Trustees. The operations of Rotary International, the member organization, are overseen by its Board of Directors.

The headquarters of Rotary International and The Rotary International Foundation are in Evanston, Illinois, USA. There are associate foundations in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, India, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
